DANNY DWYER MAKES PORSCHE SPRINT CHALLENGE GB SWITCH FOR 2023 SEASON

Danny Dwyer will look to challenge for Am Class honours in 2023 as he makes the exciting step up to the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB with Xentek Motorsport.

Following on from a successful two years of competing in the Ginetta GT Academy, the 35-year-old continues his journey in motorsport as he moves into one of the UK’s leading single-make GT championships.

Since instructing FSM to manage his entry into car racing in 2020, the London-based racer has utilised the vast experience and expertise at his disposal to make proven strides both on and off the track. With this graduation serving as the next chapter of his rise up the ranks.

Making his debut at Brands Hatch GP in May 2021, Dwyer enjoyed a superlative maiden campaign which included a pair of rookie class podium finishes before he joined Xentek in 2022. Under their banner he went on to establish himself as a regular front-runner en-route to a top-five championship finish.

Now re-aligning himself with the hugely successful Sheffield-based squad for a consecutive season, Dwyer has his sights set on more silverware as he gets behind the wheel of the popular Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

The 2023 campaign promises to be the biggest yet for the championship as it races exclusively alongside the British Touring Car Championship. A six event, 18 race calendar will see the series visit some of the UK’s leading circuits and benefit from live ITV television coverage.

“I’m over the moon to be making the move to the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB,” said Dwyer. “After two strong years of competing in the GT Academy, it felt like the time was right to move on. With Xentek Motorsport expanding their GT programme, it was the perfect opportunity.”

“Since aligning myself with Will [Fewkes] and FSM, I’ve been able to draw on all of the racing credentials available to me to not only improve behind the wheel, but also see the benefits away from the circuit. I have even enjoyed pre-season training with a current Formula 1 driver this year!”

“It’s shaping up to be an ultra-competitive season and I’m confident that we have all of the ingredients to enjoy plenty of success. The aim is to put together a championship charge in the Am Class.”

Fewkes added: “We’re delighted to be able to confirm Danny’s entry into the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB and also be able to maintain the consistency of working alongside Xentek Motorsport once again.”

“Over the past two years Danny has made significant improvements and I’m confident that he will continue to do just that as we chase success in what looks like being a big year for the championship.”

The 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB season commences at Donington Park on April 22/23.

MIKEY DOBLE GRADUATES TO BTCC WITH CARSTORE POWER MAXED RACING FOR 2023

Fewkes Sport Management is delighted to announce that title-winning client Mikey Doble will graduate to the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship with CarStore Power Maxed Racing in 2023.

Joining the ever-expanding ranks of FSM in June of last year to bolster his chances of competing in the UK’s premier motorsport series, the 24-year-old will now make his dreams a reality as he joins the experienced Independent squad to pilot one of their three Vauxhall Astras.

Renowned as being one of the standout talents in national motorsport following a strong 2022 season, the Merstham-based driver has been able to utilise FSM’s wealth of experience in global motorsport to develop and benefit, both on and off the track, during the past eight months to now achieve what has been a lifelong dream.

Working with Doble on a number of different facets such as enhancing his portfolio of exclusive relationships, peak physical training and performance, FSM has also played a critical role in securing a clear career pathway for the third-generation racer that will be sustainable commercially over the coming years.

That one-to-one work with company founder Will Fewkes proved to be pivotal in helping Doble secure an unprecedented championship sweep last year as he clinched titles in both the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge and Nankang BMW Compact Cup.

Having successfully promoted Renault Sport’s motorsport activity in the United Kingdom, Fewkes has arguably been one of the largest contributors of race talent to the BTCC during the past decade through his programmes, with Doble set to become the 20th driver to progress to the series.

Doble’s graduation to the BTCC with Fewkes coincides with the special milestone of it being exactly 50 years since his late father, Roy Fewkes, played a role in Frank Gardner’s 1973 title victory at the wheel of the famous Chevrolet Camaro.

“To be able to announce that I will be joining the BTCC grid for 2023 is an absolute dream come true,” said Doble. “I’ve been watching the series for more than 20 years and have always set my sights on one day becoming a touring car driver.

“Since joining FSM last June, we’ve been working on a career path to the BTCC. Will has been fantastic in opening doors for me with opportunities and meetings that would not have been available for everyone. I never believed that I would be in this position so quickly and it is down to his credibility in the TOCA paddock that we are where we are.

“With a world-class infrastructure and a wealth of experience around me, the goal this season has to be to score points and challenge for the Jack Sears Trophy. I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to my career so far – as well as CarStore Power Maxed Racing for the opportunity – and I’m eager to get things started now!”

Fewkes added: “I’m delighted that we are able to confirm Mikey’s entry into the BTCC with CarStore Power Maxed Racing in what is shaping up to be an exceptionally strong year for the championship.

“Mikey enjoyed a fantastic season in 2022 securing no less than 12 victories and a further 10 podiums. We really feel that now is the time for him to grab this great opportunity and show that he can consistently perform in one of the toughest touring car championships in the world.”

The 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship commences on April 22/23 at Donington Park.

FEWKES SPORT MANAGEMENT SET FOR GRANDSTAND FINISH TO 2022 SEASON

Fewkes Sport Management is poised to end its 2022 motorsport season with a flurry this coming weekend (15/16 October), as three clients go for glory at both Donington Park and Silverstone Circuit.

As the curtain closes on another action-packed campaign, all eyes will be on Mikey Doble, Danny Dwyer and Oliver Clarke as they chase down championship silverware and season-best results at Donington Park on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border.

Doble will undoubtedly be the busiest of the three FSM drivers as he fights for title honours on two fronts at two different circuits. Firstly, at Donington Park, the 23-year-old is one of five drivers in contention to be crowned Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge champion.

One win and a further six podium finishes sees the Xentek Motorsport driver sit third in the championship standings and well within striking distance of the top with three races remaining.

Secondly, Doble will travel back-and-forth to Silverstone, where he will look to wrap up the Nankang Tyres BMW Compact Cup having racked up a dominant tally of nine victories during the course of the season to-date.

In the ultra-competitive Ginetta GT Academy, fellow Xentek Motorsport racer Dwyer will battle for a top-four finish in the GTA standings in only his second season of car racing.

Dwyer, who is backed by industry leader PHD Access – has enjoyed a superlative sophomore year in the one-make series, becoming a regular front-runner and showing impressive pace whilst fighting for outright podiums in a 29-car field.

Elsewhere, Clarke is set to make a welcome return behind the wheel as he renews his relationship with Hillspeed for an appearance in the GB4 Championship partnered by the BRDC.

Having last competed back in 2020 in what is now known as the GB3 Championship partnered by the BRDC, the single-seater hotshot excelled in his rookie campaign only to be hampered by budget restraints due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Still highly regarded as one of the standout single-seater drivers in the United Kingdom at present, Clarke will be one to watch towards the front of the grid as he looks to help the Markham Vale-based outfit secure the Teams’ Championship.

Will Fewkes, FSM Director, said: “I am pleased to have three fantastic drivers competing across three different series this weekend, rounding out what has been a strong year for FSM in our areas of athlete management and sports marketing.

“Mikey has been in sensational form this season and to be heading into the weekend fighting for two championships is a testament to his abilities. Since the get-go he’s been fighting at the front and has raised his game throughout the campaign.

“The same can be said for Danny – coming to the end of his season in the GT Academy he’s taken a huge step forward, both in and out of the car, and has reaped the rewards. I’m confident both Danny and Mikey will end their seasons in style.

“It’s fantastic to announce that Oliver will be competing in GB4. Having worked on the promotion of leading FIA-sanctioned single-seater racing championships, I maintain that he is one of the most impressive talents that I have seen in recent years. I hope that this appearance will strengthen that point and provide a platform for him to realise his full potential with the right support.”

“I am over the moon to be working alongside Will and the team at Fewkes Sport Management,” said Doble. “Ever since I started racing, the BTCC has always been the dream and I believe this partnership puts me on the path to doing just that.

“Will’s vast amount of experience in athlete management and pushing UK talent into the pinnacle of the sport was a big draw for me. FSM has a proven world-class network and track record of achieving results with the best talent – something that I always strive to do as well.

“Utilising all areas of what FSM can offer, I am confident that we can continue to make big strides, be successful and build a career racing in what is arguably the biggest touring car series in the world.”

DANNY DWYER CONCLUDES MAIDEN GINETTA GT ACADEMY SEASON WITH FEWKES SPORT MANAGEMENT ON A HIGH

Fewkes Sport Management client Danny Dwyer recently brought the curtain down on his maiden season of car racing in the Ginetta GT Academy on a high as he secured fourth position in the Rookie Class standings at Donington Park on 16th/17th October.

Competing on the support bills of both the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and Intelligent Money British GT Championship in the new-for-2021 one-make series, Dwyer – who is supported by leading UK access firm PHD Access – showcased his development behind the wheel throughout the season.

Becoming a regular fixture inside the top ten, the first-time racer was a regular threat towards the podium positions, clinching a top-three class finish on his debut weekend at Brands Hatch GP back in May and then again at Snetterton in August.

As part of the FSM client roster, Dwyer was able to utilise more than 30 years’ of expertise within the motorsport industry that FSM possess to ensure he was as prepared as he could be when behind the wheel of his GT4 machine, and around his current business commitments.

Boasting invaluable experience of managing arguably one of the world’s strongest customer racing programmes under Renault Sport in the UK and Northern Europe, company founder Will Fewkes and FSM have worked on promoting categories that have resulted in drivers reaching great heights further up the racing pyramid since 2014, which only adds extra benefit to current clients on the FSM roster.

Other former drivers from Formula Renault NEC include current FIA F2 Championship leader and 2020 FIA F3 Champion Oscar Piastri and recent 2022 Indy Car signing Christian Lundgaard. In addition, no less than 16 F1 Academy drivers competing in the NEC championship have benefitted from FSM’s services.

Dwyer said as he reflected on the year

“It has been a fantastic first season of racing,” “Going into the year with no racing experience was always going to be a challenge, but with the help of FSM we have made real strides and achieved some great results both on track and commercially for PHD Access.”

“Having FSM working alongside me gave me the ability to solely focusing on arriving at the track each race weekend and driving the car. They took care of running the car as well as covering all aspects of planning for development, coaching and more.

“FSM really do bring the right tools to ensure that you yourself can be the most complete package out on-track. Everything interlinks and they play a crucial role on why I have improved so much this year on a restricted time allowance.”

Will Fewkes, FSM Founder, added:

“I am immensely proud of how Danny has developed during his debut season of car racing and since the first round Brands Hatch GP back in May. We have been discussing a potential motorsport programme for a number of years and it was a pleasure to see it become a reality in 2021.

“Danny has proved that he has the pace to mix it with some of the strongest drivers on the grid and our expectation will only be to further cement that when the season gets underway in 2022.

“All of the tools are now in place to continue the learning process this winter, and FSM is excited to continue working with Danny and PHD Access into the programmes second year.”

“Having Fewkes Sport Management looking over the programme has meant that I can arrive and drive, and know that everything is in place. I’ve been able to focus purely on the job of driving and have full confidence that everything is taken care of courtesy of Will [Fewkes] and Jordan [King].

“Away from the racing FSM has also been able to open up other commercial opportunities too which perhaps wouldn’t have been an option before as well.”

Jordan King, Head of FSM Driver Development, added:

“It has been great to work with Danny so far; our results at Brands Hatch and Donington Park have continued to build nicely whilst Danny develops within the championship.

“Every time he gets behind the wheel his pace is improving, he’s developing well and taking on-board everything to ensure he is in the best position when behind the wheel. We’ve also worked with him away from the race meetings using our exclusive network to further enhance his ability, which again will undoubtedly shine through in the coming races.”
