MIKEY DOBLE CROWNED JACK SEARS TROPHY CHAMPION AT BRANDS HATCH

Fewkes Sport Management athlete Mikey Doble signed off the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship in style at Brands Hatch this past weekend (5/6 October), concluding a hugely successful season by lifting the prestigious Jack Sears Trophy title.

Taking centre stage on the Grand Prix layout of the Kent venue for what proved to be a blockbuster finale, Doble produced a strong showing as he charged to a brace of Independent race wins in tricky conditions.

The 25-year-old’s sophomore season in Britain’s premier motor racing series with Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing has been nothing short of impressive as he claimed the coveted Jack Sears Trophy title in commanding fashion.

At the wheel of his Vauxhall Astra, Doble tallied a total of 15 class wins over the course of the season; which equated to him laying claim to weekend honours in six of the ten race meetings.

In addition to his Jack Sears Trophy triumph, Doble also scored a maiden overall podium finish at Oulton Park and no less than seven Independent wins which contributed towards Power Maxed Racing capturing the Independent Teams’ Championship crown.

“It’s hard to believe that the season is now over, but to be standing here with this amazing piece of silverware and knowing that I am officially the Jack Sears Trophy champion is really special,” said Doble.

“At the start of the year this was the target and we’ve not only just achieved it, but have done so in style. Having that moment on the Champions’ Podium is something I will never forget and I’m just so happy that I’ve done what I set out to do.

“Huge credit and thanks has to go to every single member of the Power Maxed Racing team because they’ve been incredible all year. Without them – as well as my sponsors, family and everyone at FSM – I would not be standing here as a champion.”

Will Fewkes, FSM Founder, added: “We’re absolutely delighted for Mikey as the Jack Sears Trophy is a fantastic reward for all of the hard work that he’s put in – both on and off the track – this year.

“Mikey has really come into his own this season and his results have underlined that. He’s an absolute delight to work with and an example of the what can be achieved when you have the right structure around you behind the scenes.

“It also says a lot about Mikey and his talents behind the wheel that he’s highly regarded by many people in the paddock. I’m sure this success is just the beginning for him. He’s got a bright future in the championship.”

Rob Huff, FSM Performance Pathway Director, concluded: “Like Will, I’m really happy for Mikey because there is no doubt that he’s a deserving winner of the Jack Sears Trophy this year – he’s been head and shoulders above everyone.

“Being in the BTCC myself, I’ve had the opportunity to go wheel-to-wheel with Mikey on a number of occasions this year and he’s a real talent. His race craft is brilliant and you can see that he just wants to learn and evolve all the time.

“At FSM we have built a fantastic platform for Mikey to continue to thrive on and off the track moving forward. I’m sure this is just the start of many more successes for him and his family.”
