Fewkes Sport Management clients Mikey Doble and Danny Dwyer brought the curtain down on their respective Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and Porsche Sprint Challenge GB campaigns at Brands Hatch, concluding a year that has been packed with success.
On what proved to be an action-packed finale on the Grand Prix layout of the world-famous Kent venue, both Doble and Dwyer produced strong showings – a theme that has been consistent throughout the 2023 season.
Having graduated into the UK’s premier motorsport series with CarStore Power Maxed Racing this year, Doble has established himself as one of the stars of the future in the BTCC having come oh-so close to clinching the coveted Jack Sears Trophy.
Tussling with his Vauxhall Astra team-mate for the crown throughout the season, the 24-year-old garnered plenty of attention – not least for blasting to a maiden pole position at the Home of British Motor Racing, Silverstone.
That achievement would see Doble become the only driver that wasn’t part of NAPA Racing UK, the newly crowned BTCC Teams’ and Manufacturer/Constructor champions – to ultimately snare a pole position over the course of the season.
In addition to his Silverstone heroics, the front-wheel-drive ace also ended up scoring points in a total of 16 contests, he claimed an outright Independents’ victory in just his second-ever race and bagged weekend Jack Sears Trophy honours on two occasions.
Like Doble, Dwyer took on a new challenge for 2023 as he stepped up to the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB with Xentek Motorsport, who he had been aligned with in the Ginetta GT Academy previously.
Embarking on just his third full season of racing, the Irishman stepped up to the ultra-competitive Cayman GT4 series with high hopes, and he duly delivered as he became a standout name in the Amateur Category.
Producing a number of eye-catching performances in his striking red and black machine, Dwyer powered his way to no less than five top-five finishes and an abundance of points-scoring results.
Dwyer’s development behind the wheel also came on leaps and bounds courtesy of benefitting as he benefited from the expert tutelage of 2022 BTCC champion, Tom Ingram.
Will Fewkes, FSM Founder, said: “It has been a fantastic year for our athletes competing on the coveted BTCC package. Mikey and Danny stepped into new programmes with their racing this year and have duly delivered with their performances throughout.
“Both drivers have been a pleasure to work with, have achieved standout results, and it has been thoroughly satisfying to see their positive gains. I look forward to seeing them grow further in 2024.”
